standing at the window at the bank to make deposits tonight, i overheard a conversation between two men standing next to me.

it was classic in the sense that someone had been conned, was still being conned, and didn't recognise it.

the older armenian gentleman was talking about a $6M check he had from ghana he was having difficulty cashing. he had been contacted by a "friend" in ghana who promised him $2M if he could cash it. he had spent close to $100K in fees in ghana trying to get it cashed. he had then gotten another friend in to help him with it and would give the friend $1M of the $2M he is promised. the friend has gone to ghana to try to cash the check.

it gets even better. the guy he was talking to was suggesting he invest the $1M with IngDirect when he gets the money.
