messing with mother nature

this is disheartening. a warning from the sea

the los angeles times is reporting the decimation of the oyster larva for the entire west coast by a bacterium known as Vibrio tubiashii. this particular strain of bacteria survives in both oxygenated warm water and nonoxygenated cold water. it is creeping out of the dead zones which have begun to spread in the ocean.

oysters in france have also been affected with baby oyster deaths which will cause a shortage of mature oysters in 2010.

add this to the collapse of the chinook salmon run in the west coast rivers and tributaries. the typical run has fallen from 800,000 to 90,000 coming to spawn. restrictions to fishing have been established in an attempt to restore the population. in addition to being a tasty food item to humans, salmon are a food staple to bears.

there is also the honey bee colony collapse disorder which can potentially affect the pollination of the food crops causing shortages. granted there are nonhoney producers such as the blue orchard bee which is a pollinator, are not affected by CCD, and are easy to maintain. thing is, i don't know about you, but i love honey. i don't want the honeybees to die off.

mother nature is not happy as the climate is affected by warming.

It gets worse, the thing I personaly believe will do the planet in is "The rise of slime". Excessive nutrient discharge into the oceans causing surges of plancton and such, raising temps, blocking sunlight lower down, and lots more. I think that unless the whole of the industrialized world suddenly shrinks by at least aprox 30% we are going to end up mighty screwed.

you are quite correct in your observation. i have read about the dead zones where there is nothing living. how the hell do we clean up this mess that has been created?

i think we are coming close to a time for a cataclysmic event to reduce the population base. earth tends to adjust now and again. i think it is due for an adjustment.

yea, I just think the adjustment has already started. not likely to be a light switch thing, but probably a up to a 50 year change process that makes the world more and more hostile to life as we know it. I am aware there is more solar radiation getting through; on the 4th setting up the fireworks shoot my arms burned in a couple of hrs AND i got mildly burned through my shirt! and I dont really burn at all on my arms with the Greek blood and getting regular exposure.

hmmmm, the Myan calander ends soon.........
perchance something they knew that we dont?
not paranoid or doomsday, but just sayin......

kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it? well, let's see if we are still here on december 22, 2012. :-/
