last month i posted
an entry about a murder case in scotland that was stranger than any fiction writer could possibly compose.
during the past week it became a little more strange with the defense attorney accusing the parish priest of possibly being the murderer.
then later he accused another lowlife, down on luck alcoholic who testified he heard the sounds of something heavy being dragged through the chapel as he was sleeping off a drunken stupor on one of the pews. he woke and saw peter tobin, the defendent, leaving the chapel.
well, today the verdict was reached within four hours by the jury.
guilty as charged.
sentence of twenty one years to life.
on his way out of the courtroom, tobin attacked a press photographer and threw him to the ground. it took four policemen to restrain him.
the priest, father nugent, is going to be brought to trial for perjury.
bizarre case all around.
