only dogs do it?

i was sitting here at my computer when i heard an interesting sound. i turned to observe my cat, who is asleep upon my bed, twitching his tail and growling. his upper lip was moving with a tic as if he was confronting something.

while i am used to his occasional snoring, this is the first time i have ever seen or heard him growling in a dream state.

very strange.

an age old conflict

today i heard raised voices coming from the apartment below me. i could not help but over hear what was being said.

it is an age old conflict that has repeated itself in households over many millenia.

what conflict is this you may ask?

it is the conflict which occurs when a son is stepping out of the bounds of being a child and has entered those years of being a teenager. it is the conflict that arises between a father and the now man-child who resides beneath his roof. it is the conflict of the son who is trying to discover who he is by testing the boundaries which he has been given.

the father expresses exasperation as he asserts his authority. the son tries to explain. the father threatens to throw son out of house unless there is change.

the same conflict has played over and over for time immemorial.
